Hey Sovereign Parents 💜
This week has been one of those heavy ones. My motion got denied again — the third time — which means this will be the fourth time I have to refile. The timelines in family court can feel like a trap: slow, technical, full of unexpected roadblocks, and honestly… defeating.
There were moments I felt that familiar “why bother” energy creep in. Learned helplessness tried to settle in my chest. I get it — when you keep doing the work and the system keeps saying no, it’s easy to feel powerless. I’ve wanted to give up more than once.
But here’s what shifted for me this time:
I’m learning that the Divine (that wise, vast part of me that’s beyond the everyday human stress) isn’t showing up as a parent who’s going to fix it or feed me the perfect answers. Instead, it’s walking beside me as a companion — lovingly reminding me that I have everything I need inside to keep choosing forward.
This process isn’t just about winning the next motion. It’s teaching me sovereignty. It’s inviting me to feel the defeat fully… and then consciously choose resilience anyway. Not because I’m ignoring the hardship, but because shrinking into helplessness doesn’t protect me or my children.
Here’s how I’m practicing this right now:
Name it without judgment.
I let myself feel the disappointment and the “this is never going to end” thought. I say it out loud or write it down: “This feels defeating. The timeline feels like a trap.” Naming it takes some of its power away.
Remember who is really walking with me.
I place my hand on my heart or solar plexus and say:
“I’m not doing this alone. The deepest part of me is right here, companioning me through this. I don’t need all the answers today — I just need to take one steady step.”
Take one small sovereign action.
Instead of forcing the entire refiling at once, I break it into tiny pieces. Order the report from the last denials. Draft one paragraph. Breathe. Celebrate the micro-win. This builds real confidence instead of feeding the helplessness.
Surrender the timeline, not my power.
I remind myself: the court can control the pace, but it cannot control how I show up. I can still be the calm, regulated parent my kids need — even when the process feels endless.
If you’re in a season where court feels like it’s wearing you down, please know you’re not failing. Feeling defeated sometimes doesn’t make you weak — it makes you human. The real growth happens when we feel it… and still choose to keep going.
You are stronger than this system wants you to believe. Your resilience is being forged right now, even on the slow, frustrating days.
I’m walking this with you — not as someone who has it all figured out, but as a fellow parent choosing sovereignty one honest day at a time.
Drop a 💜 in the comments or reply if you’re in this season too. You’re not alone.
With steady love and real hope,
Sitar 🌕
