For a long time, I thought I needed more information.
If I could just think about it a little longer...
Research one more thing...
Replay one more conversation...
Maybe I'd finally feel clear.
It seemed responsible.
It even felt productive.
Looking back, I can see something I couldn't see then.
I wasn't always looking for answers.
Sometimes I was looking for certainty.
There's a difference.
One opens you to life.
The other can quietly keep you from living it.
As I've been learning more about the nervous system, something has become clearer to me.
When our body senses uncertainty, it naturally wants to reduce it.
Sometimes that looks like planning.
Sometimes it looks like overthinking.
Sometimes it looks like waiting until we feel completely ready before taking the next step.
None of those responses make us "bad."
They may simply be familiar ways we've learned to feel safer.
The interesting part is that what once protected us can continue long after it's no longer needed.
I've been asking myself a different question lately.
Not...
"How do I become more certain?"
But...
"What if clarity comes after I take one grounded step, not before?"
That question has changed the way I approach my days.
Less forcing.
More noticing.
Less trying to predict every outcome.
More trusting that I can respond to whatever comes next.
A Remembering for Today
The next time you notice yourself searching for absolute certainty...
Pause.
Ask yourself:
Am I looking for wisdom... or am I looking for reassurance?
There isn't a right or wrong answer.
Just notice.
Sometimes awareness is the first step toward freedom.
I've discovered that life rarely asks us to know everything before moving forward.
More often...
It asks us to take the next honest step.
Thank you for being here.
We'll continue remembering together.

This week's reflection:
What are you waiting to feel certain about before you allow yourself to move forward?
If this resonated, then you are in the right place.
