For a long time, I believed I was handling everything well.

I was showing up.

Taking care of my children.

Navigating family court.

Working through one challenge after another.

If someone had asked me how I was doing, I probably would have answered,

"I'm fine. I'm just tired."

Looking back, I realize something I couldn't see at the time.

I had become so focused on getting through each day that I rarely stopped to ask myself how I was moving through it.

I thought strength meant carrying more.

Pushing harder.

Holding everything together.

But over time, I began to wonder if there was another way.

What changed?

One day I stopped asking,

"How do I become stronger?"

Instead, I asked,

"What if strength isn't about carrying everything alone?"

That question led me down a path of nervous system regulation, greater self-awareness, and eventually a deep spiritual awakening.

I began noticing patterns I had never questioned before.

Overthinking decisions.

Trying to anticipate every outcome.

Feeling like I always needed to stay one step ahead.

At first, I believed those habits were simply part of being responsible.

Now I see they were ways I had adapted to prolonged stress.

That realization wasn't discouraging.

It was freeing.

Because awareness gives us the opportunity to choose a different response.

Maybe this sounds familiar.

Perhaps you've found yourself:

  • Replaying conversations long after they've ended.

  • Feeling responsible for everyone else's emotions.

  • Struggling to truly rest, even when you have the chance.

  • Believing you need to solve every problem before you can feel at peace.

  • Carrying more than you need to because it feels like the responsible thing to do.

If so, I want to offer a gentle question.

What if the next step isn't becoming stronger?

What if it's becoming more aware of the patterns shaping your responses?

A Practice for Today

The next time you notice yourself thinking,

"I just have to get through this."

Pause.

Take one slow breath.

Then ask yourself:

Am I responding from intention... or simply reacting to the moment?

Don't judge your answer.

Just notice it.

Awareness isn't about perfection.

It's about creating enough space to choose your next step with intention.

For a long time, I believed peace would come when my circumstances changed.

Today, I believe peace begins when we remain connected to ourselves while navigating whatever life places in front of us.

Thank you for being here.

We'll continue learning together.
